Fund Raising and Social Events

Raising funds is an important way for a club to develop, sustain itself and support its members, and WMCC is no different. Each year we offer opportunities for members and their families to support the club and raise much needed income for the club.

In 2009, the club ran three successful quiz nights, sold football cards, held barbeques and continued to develop interest in the 100 Club. In addition to this the Intra-Club match held on 2nd August raised much needed funds for our only international player, Laura Thorogood, towards the cost of her tour of Australia in October.

100 Club

Each month, during the outdoor season a monthly '100 Club' draw is made. Each number cost £12 per season with three prizes awarded each month.

Quiz Nights

The club has now run 4 very successful quiz nights at the club house since September 2008 and a good time has been had by all. More quiz nights are planned for 2010 and we await to see if anyone can challenge the dominance of Stuart 'Pippy' Phillips - 4 time quiz winner - next year.

Thanks must go to Rebecca Thorogood for this excellent initiative.

Intra-Club Day

The club raised £325 towards Laura's trip to Australia to represent England Women at the Indoor World Cup. An excellent day was had with three teams competing in a T20 tournament. A barbeque and drinks followed the contest, which was won by the team led by Andrew Brown.

If anyone has more ideas for events that could raise funds for the club in a fun and social way, please contact one of the Club Officials. Remember, it is your club!
