Statz Zone

Without the statistics fully operational on the website I felt that our members, knowing how self-obsessed they are, might enjoy a few snippets of information to keep them entertained over the winter months. With this in mind I have decided to compile a weekly column with some performance statz of players and teams within the club. If anybody would like to see a set of statz featured please let me know. (All statistics include the 2005-2007 seasons and some friendly games from 2004)

Matthew Goodlad

The statistics from our new club captain show a steep decline in his batting form over the last season. After a golden summer in 2005 the new skipper has seen his batting average slip from 68.10 in 2005 to only 28.50 in 2007- a year when the club faced relegation. His bowling has been relatively steady over the last few years with his wicket taking peaking in 2007. Matt boasts a good return of fifties and centuries with four centuries and ten fifties in fifty one appearances.

Ladies Top Batting Aggregates 2007

The top batting aggregates for Woodham Ladies XI show young Laura Thorogood at the head of the list with a total of 114 runs at an impressive average of 38. Will one of the other ladies be able to knock her off the top spot next season? We will have to wait and see.

Most Ducks 2007

The duck charts are always an entertaining yearly statistic as we analyse the walking wickets of the club and here we will compare this season 2007 with the 2006 season.

The statz show us that there has been a whole host of new, younger cricketers entering our top ten. The 2006 list features ten seasoned veterans of ineptitude filling all of the positions, with yours truly heading the field. However, 2007 sees a new king duck with Andy Smith topping the charts with an impressive seven blobs, whilst Derek Brown and the impressive Trevor Mason not only retain their places in the list but climb the table!
